Since we get MANY bug reports, or seem to get a fair amount, I've decided to create a nice little guide for you folks to give us [the GMs]an easier time with working on these reports.
What this guide will cover:
-THE GOLDEN RULE
-Topic Titles
-General Information
-Requirements
THE GOLDEN RULE
-SEARCH THE FIRST SEVERAL PAGES FOR ANY RELATED TOPICS!
-IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO POST IN AN EXISTING TOPIC THAN TO START A NEW ONE!
With that out of the way...
Topic Titles
When you report a bug, you need an appropriate name.
Your Title, and Description, should be clear and concise. Having a topic reading
"Bug Report" doesn't exactly give us much information.
If you receive a graphical error, please use a topic like "Graphic Bug", a coding error could be "Script Bug"
A list of potentially useful topic names is listed...now:
"Graphic Error, Script Error, Text Error, Item Error, Monster Error, ..."
You do not need to use those, but those are a good guideline. If you have an error that is completely different, please make your topic as clear as possible.
General Information
Things you should explain in the report are things like...How did it occur. Did you simply walk into Prontera and BAM, bugs? Did you go through a process and then it occured? Was it only under certain conditions [IE: Frozen monsters which are standing on venom dust receive 500x the damage they should]. Do you receive certain error windows? Like "Cannot find LOCATION/FILE.act/.spr" or the "Crash" window? Try to include any information that might be useful.
Requirements
Things you MUST put in.
-Your Operating System
-Your client version [2.7, 2.8, 3.0, OTHER]
-If you have RECENTLY updated your Ragnarok.exe and Sakray.exe programs
-Have you checked for any patches released by Akira, Borf, myself, etc on the forums themselves?
-Did you download anything recently that was not from THIS website in ANY relation to RO?
-Can you make the bug occur more than once? Or does it occur regularly?
-Your Job Class
-Have you run UPDATED Virus Scanners and Ad/Spyware removers recently?
These are guildlines, not the law of this section, it is to alleviate our jobs, as GMs, from sorting through various posts trying to figure out what is wrong.
One Final Note:
DO NOT CREATE POLLS! THEY ARE WASTES OF TIME AND SPACE IN THIS SECTION!
Thank you for reading,
Dekkar
